Specimens that fall under the category of biological substances – category A or B necessitate the most careful and protective packaging when being transported for further testing, diagnosis, and research. These kinds of specimens should always be placed in a primary packaging that is 95kpa rated.
Our transport specimen bags, which are the secondary packaging, will also require a rating depending on how you intend to transport the specimen. UN3373 specimen bags are sufficient for road transport, but the only type certified for air transport are 95kpa bags. These are not only leakproof and secure, but are also pressure rated to withstand the conditions imposed when flying specimens overseas. 95kpa bags are similar in terms of design and function as our UN3373 or even regular specimen bags, except they are 95kpa compliant and designed for use if the primary packaging does not reach 95kpa compliance or for transportation of specimens by airplane. f you do not need a 95kpa specimen bag, you may prefer to look at our other bags. Material
When it comes to 95kpa compliant bags, the quality of the material used is paramount. Any leakages or contamination caused by improper material usage could be disastrous, so we take the greatest precautions to source consistently high-quality raw materials.
Sizing options
As with our other model bags, there is no standard size for our bags. The size you will need depends on what kind of specimens you will be transporting. Branding options
Branding on the 95kpa bags themselves can be customised to fit your brand or organisation. Safety and biohazard hazard symbols and labelling will also be printed on the 95kpa bag as per regulations. Any logo or branding of RLK Group will not be included.
UN3373 Specimen Bags
A 95kpa specimen transport bag is only as strong as its seal. At RLK Group, we make our bags with single-use adhesive and optional security tape. Various tiers of security tape are available and are better suited to a range of different use cases with heat proofing, cold resistance, and more. Once sealed with this security tape, the bags cannot be opened and resealed without the showing “void”. This adds another layer of security to prove that none of the contents have been tampered with, while the strength of the adhesive makes it incredibly fail-safe, reliable, and easy to use.
95kpa bags are leakproof packaging made according to p620/650, ADR, and IATA specifications. This means they are designed to contain specimens that fall under biological substances – category A, or UN2814, UN2900, as well as UN3373 ratings. Another part of these packing instructions maintains that the bags should be compliant in handling up to 95kpa of pressure.
95kpa bags are a specialist type of specimen transport bag. Simply reveal the adhesive strip by pulling off the protective layer and folding it down. This will ensure a tight seal that, as part of the packaging system, is ready for transportation as per p620 & p650 packing instructions.
To ensure that the bag remains leakproof and able to perform at pressures within 95kpa, it is vital that this seal is properly used. If something has come into contact with the adhesive before it is folded down, please discard it and use a new one. Additionally, it is important never to overfill the bag and ensure that an appropriately sized one is used. Custom sizes are available.
Depending on what kind of medical specimens you may be transporting in 95kpa bags, an absorbent pad will be necessary in order to further protect and prevent the spillage of liquids inside. We are able to supply absorbent pads with 95kpa bags if you require them.
